About Us

Since October 2002 we have been supporting children in Potsdam West on their journey – following the principles of Maria Montessori and with great commitment from our parent initiative.

Our History

The Montessori-Kinderhaus opened its doors in October 2002 in Potsdam West, near Sanssouci Park. Since then it has been run by the association "Montessori-Kinderhaus Potsdam e.V." as a parent initiative.

What began as a small initiative is today a vibrant place for up to 66 children from their first birthday until school entry. Our success is built on the mindful collaboration of educators, children and dedicated parents.

Our Pedagogy

The Child at the Centre

We see every child as a whole person. Our educators see themselves as companions and observers, not instructors.

Free Choice of Activities

Children follow their sensitive periods and interests at their own pace. The prepared environment enables independent action.

Experiencing Boundaries

Children experience boundaries through the order of the room, the materials themselves and living together with others – quite naturally.

Respect & Tolerance

We foster mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. Social learning happens in the group, complementing the family.

Diversity & Inclusion

We welcome and embrace diversity as an enrichment. Our Kinderhaus is barrier-free and our team includes specialists in inclusive care.
